The Complete Cuticle Layer Analysis Details

Our expert analysis of your client's hair using data from the Protein-Cuticle Loss Test and the Cuticle Imaging Test provides valuable insights into their hair's condition.

The Cuticle Imaging Test

We use the Cuticle Imaging Test to take over ten high-magnification, high-resolution images of the cuticle throughout the hair sample. This provides a detailed overall view of the cuticle layer, allowing us to identify any damage and make recommendations based on our observations.

We also include a summary of observations and key tabulated data, including recommendations by Dr. Palmer.

The Protein-Cuticle Loss Test

The Protein-Cuticle Loss Test is important for identifying hair damage caused by recent chemical treatments, environmental factors, or heat styling. We use this test to assess the overall health of your client's cuticle and hair, providing you with a complete picture of their hair health.

The Complete Cuticle Layer Analysis also includes essential haircare advice based on the test results to help you create customised hair care plans for your clients.

Hair Sample Requirements

How and where you take your client's hair sample depends on your client's hair and scalp presentation and what you would like to investigate.

Suggested methods for collecting hair samples include:

  • Collecting hair using a brush or comb

  • Removing the hair sample by cutting from a particular section of the scalp

  • The pull test - taken from across the scalp or a specific scalp area of interest (not typically recommended due to sample size requirement)

We require a larger hair sample between 0.1-0.2g for the Complete Cuticle Layer Analysis. Any length of hair fibre is acceptable. See the pictures for guidance.

Please note: No specific sample preparation is required.
